A camp of surveyors for the Canadian Pacific Railway near the Saskatchewan River.


Surveying the route of the future railway was the first task in attempting to attract settlers to Saskatchewan. Sanford Fleming surveyed the original route for the railway in the 1870s' and it followed the traditional trade routes along the Saskatchewan River system. In the 1880s' it would be changed to the southern route across the open prairie.
