"Neil McTaggart homesteaded in the Gull Lake area in 1905 and his experiences working the land mirror the typical homesteader. He describes in some detail how he obtained a homestead and what the typical farming operations were. Information is supplied about the types of crops, seeding, harvesting, hired help, animals, tractors, and the difficulties he faced while homesteading."
