Road building in the early years was labour intensive. Horses and men worked together to build a grade and culvert.


To encourage the homesteaders to settle in Saskatchewan a vast network of railways had been built. Now that the homesteaders were on the land it was essential to build a network of roads so they could get their grain to the rail line.
