Saskatchewan History:
Copyright Administration Policy

Saskatchewan History Advisory Board has recently adopted a new copyright administration policy. With this new policy, Saskatchewan History wishes to formalize its relationship with contributing authors by providing tangible recognition of their expertise and clarifying the status of the copyright over their work vis-a-vis the journal. Authors are now asked to enter into a written agreement with Saskatchewan History outlining the terms of publication, as well as assigning Saskatchewan Archives Board either full copyright for the article or granting the Board an open license for its limited use. As part of the new agreement with Saskatchewan History, the authors may choose one of the following options to compensate them for the publication of major articles:

A. Transfer of full copyright to Saskatchewan Archives

  • Payment of $50.00 and one free copy of the issue in which the article is published ; or
  • Five copies of the issue in which the article is published plus a 40% discount on the purchase of additional copies.

B. Grant of an open copyright license for use of the article by Saskatchewan Archives (author retains copyright)

  • Payment of $25.00 and one free copy of the issue in which the article is published ; or
  • Two copies of the issue in which the article is published plus a 40% discount on the purchase of additional copies.

For further information on the new policy, please contact the Editor c/o info.saskatoon@archives.gov.sk.ca
