Research and Reference Services
The Saskatchewan Archives serves as the "collective memory" of the Government of Saskatchewan, its departments, crown corporations, commissions, boards, agencies and court system. Our records date from the Territorial Period (pre-1905) through the early days of our province up to as recently as seven years ago. In addition to paper records we collect records in other formats including photographs, maps, architectural drawings, sound and moving image.

The Saskatchewan Archives' permanent collection is a useful resource for government. The Archives collects and preserves a history of the policies of government institutions and the records provide a portrait of past policies and procedures. We encourage you to contact our reference services to determine if we have records that are useful to you when you are exploring new policy directions and planning for the future.

Access to Restricted Records
Government records acquired by the Saskatchewan Archives are subject to The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other related legislation.

Should government employees require access to records of their own department or institution access will be granted with written permission from a senior person from your institution. If government employees wish access to restricted records of another department or institution other than their own it will be necessary to obtain permission from that institution. Please contact a member of the Government Records Branch staff for more details.

How to Proceed
